Established in 1976, the Marine Life Society of South Australia Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to understanding, promoting and conserving South Australia's marine biodiversity. Many of the articles found on this blog were originally published in the Society's monthly newsletters or annual journals.
Makes no sense to cull top-order predators,especially when most sharks caught in such culls are non-target species.We know very little about great whites’ life cycles.For example we have only fragmented data on their global patterns of movement social stratification,interactions w other species of free-swimming oceanic sharks,genetic diversity,vulnerability to diseases and the probability of nutritionally suboptimal dietary alterations due anthropogenic food shortages globally.
