I revisited Middle Beach during January to check out the creeks and boat ramp there. I also wanted to check the status of the Samphire Discovery Trail there.
I visited the two-lane boat ramp first: –
The ramp is surrounded by mangroves, and it is the entry point to Salt Creek: –
I have previously kayaked at this location, possibly in around 2023. I certainly took these photos of a heron at the boat ramp in 2023: –
The area is within of the Adelaide International Bird Sanctuary which runs from Barker Inlet to Port Parham.
I then headed to the local caravan park to check out the discovery trail and the creek there: –
Unfortunately, the Samphire Discovery Trail has been closed for some years. It has become rundown now. There has been plenty of interpretive signage, but much of this has now badly deteriorated.
A creek winds its way around the trail. I followed the trail to a lookout at its end by the creek.
I cannot determine the name of this creek at all. It may just be a part of Salt Creek.
I passed over a bridge across the creek, and over a couple of short boardwalk sections.
