One of our members recently reported, “Recently I was advised I had posted some “Livid Fan Scallops” (Scaeochlamys livida) on iNaturalist, an invasive species that is currently being monitored. Spreading from the Port River, these currently have been found as far south as Normanville. Me, as not the best on recognising and being able to differentiate between invasive and native species, have pasted the link to my Inat posts below so that others (if not already aware of what to look for) may recognise any they see and also post on the iNaturalist website. This will aid greatly in this species being tracked and monitoring the extent of their spread.

Another member reported, “(one colleague) is very concerned about the rapid spread of the livid fan scallop ” (Scaeochlamys livida) and has just now asked me to keep any I find so (they) can at some point in near future have them examined by experts, to be absolutely sure that the species ID is correct (they think probably yes, but want more confirmation). They want reasonably intact beach washed valves; even single valves are useful.”
