I observed this Dusky Morwong, Dactylophora nigricans, at Edithburgh jetty back in January 2025: –
I posted images of the fish on iNaturalist along with the following comments: –
“In all images (1st photo is best) you can see Rockpool Shrimps actively cleaning external surfaces of the client: –
This cleaning station had at least 10 such shrimps in position, as seen in preceding observation from this dive (the hosts were all Rockpool Shrimp as far as I know; I looked carefully for any Western Cleaner Clingfish or Ancylomenes aesopius (etc..) but found none. There were always a few juvenile Moonlighters in the general vicinity (outer end of jetty) but they didn’t appear involved with this client.”
